Giving Tuesday is coming up on Dec. 3, and San Ramon and the Tri-Valley are full of nonprofits doing amazing work.
SAN RAMON, CA - If you’re like many of your San Ramon neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.
Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.
Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs. Below are five great San Ramon nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday.

However, they are only a few of the many nonprofits in and around San Ramon doing incredible work. The Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance provides an extensive list of local nonprofits.We also published two lists last year that highlight impressive local organizations.
- Agape Villages is a licensed foster family agency that places children in foster homes throughout Northern California. They are also a licensed adoption agency, and provide enrichment and independent living skills programs to help their clients.
- Morning Star Outreach operates free summer camps near Bear Valley, which have helped over 4,000 abused or neglected children aged 11-13 enjoy their summer and learn valuable life skills.
- Paws in Need works closely with no-kill shelters and animal control authorities to provide care for animals in need. They offer low-cost spaying and neutering, low-cost urgent care, and Trap-Neuter-Release operations for feral cat colonies.
- The San Ramon Chamber Ensemble is a scholarship-based class that aims to make chamber music lessons accessible to all. The ensemble aims to support inclusivity and diversity in classical music by providing regular workshops and presentations in San Ramon, as well in elementary schools in Oakland and Alameda through a partnership with the Bay Area Music Project.
