SAN RAMON, CA — The city of San Ramon, in partnership with the Contra Costa Transportation Authority, Contra Costa County, and the East Bay Regional Park District, will host the official opening of the Iron Horse Trail Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing at Bollinger Canyon Road on Saturday, July 19.

Construction on the approximately $29.1 million over crossing began in May 2023, though planning and studies had been in the works since 2009. The overcrossing aims to improve pedestrian safety, enhance traffic flow, encourage bicycle and trail use, and eliminate unsafe crossing maneuvers, among other goals. A $14 million overcrossing over Dublin Boulevard was officially dedicated in November 2024.

The opening ceremony is free and open to the public. It will begin at 9 a.m. in the City Hall rotunda with remarks from elected officials and partner agencies. A ribbon cutting will take place at the entrance at 10 a.m., when the bridge will officially open. The public can enjoy a group photo on the bridge, along with commemorative giveaways to celebrate the opening.
