Man Commits Suicide in Downtown Danville Parking Lot

Man hung himself in Rose Avenue parking lot, police said.

A man in his early 20s killed himself Friday afternoon in a public parking lot on Rose Avenue in Danville, according to Danville Police Chief Steve Simpkins.

Danville police received a call at 1:30 p.m. Friday from a citizen who drove into the parking lot at the end of Rose Avenue and saw what looked like a man leaning against a fence in a strange way.

When officers arrived, it was not immediately clear from a distance that the man was dead, and his feet were on the ground. But when officers got closer, they discovered his circulation had been cut off at his neck and he had died.
