Plans Underway For San Ramon's National Night Out

The annual event promoting police and community partnerships will take place nationwide Tuesday, Aug. 1.

SAN RAMON, CA — As summer continues to heat up, plans for San Ramon's National Night Out are already under way with individual neighborhoods planning everything from barbeques and potlucks to block parties, and residents wishing to have a representative from the San Ramon Police Department visit their party will need to register with the city by July 25, the city said.

National Night Out, when residents from around the city, along with thousands of others across the country, will turn on their outside lights, lock their doors, and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police, is celebrated by millions of people annually.

The event promoting police and community partnerships, will take part in San Ramon and across the nation Tuesday Aug. 1.

"From 5:30 to 9:00PM, on August 1, residents in neighborhoods throughout San Ramon are asked to lock your doors, turn on outside lights, and spend the evening outdoors on porches, lawns, and front steps, with neighbors, and police officers," the city of San Ramon said in a news release. "Many of our Neighborhood Watch groups are planning special events, such as potlucks, block parties, ice cream socials, and the like. As mentioned, San Ramon Police representatives will be visiting registered events during that time, helping you light up the city."
