This Weekend: Planned Partial Closures of Southbound I-680 between Alcosta Boulevard and I-580/I-680 Connector
9 p.m. Friday, May 31– 4 a.m. Monday, June 3
Caltrans has scheduled a partial closure of southbound Interstate 680 between Alcosta Boulevard in San Ramon and the I-580/I-680 connector in Pleasanton Friday, May 31 through Monday, June 3.

In the closure, three left lanes of southbound Interstate 680 will be closed between Alcosta Boulevard in San Ramon and the I-580/I-680 Connector in Pleasanton from 9 p.m. Friday through 4 a.m. Monday morning.
Two right lanes of I-680 will remain open during the closure. However, CalTrans encourages motorists to take alternative routes to alleviate traffic congestion within the construction work zone on southbound I-680 in the cities of San Ramon and Dublin.

In addition to the closure on southbound I-680, the far-left lane (Express Lane) and left shoulder will be closed on northbound I-680 between Amador Valley Boulevard in Dublin and Alcosta Blvd in San Ramon.
Though lanes will be open, it’s best to avoid the area if possible. If you do access the freeway, **Please be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the construction zone and slow for the Cone Zone.**
During the closures, the contractor will replace a portion of the existing deteriorated roadway with new pavement on southbound I-680.
Northbound I-680 and I-580/I-680 interchange connector will remain open and will not be affected by the closure.
Caltrans is aware that the closures will impact the motoring public and measures are being taken to minimize inconvenience. Caltrans thanks the motoring public in advance for your patience as it works to improve I-680.
California Highway Patrol officers and message signs will be on hand to guide motorists.
Detours for the closure are as follows:
Motorists on southbound I-680 in Walnut Creek can take SR-24 to I-80 to southbound I-880.
Full Shutdown Locations:
- Southbound Saint Patrick Way onramp onto southbound I-680
Lane Closure Locations (Not Full Closure):
- Three left lanes closed on southbound I-680 between Alcosta Blvd in San Ramon and I-580/I-680 connector in Dublin
- Far left lane (Express Lane) and left shoulder closed on northbound I-680 between Amador Valley Blvd in Dublin and Alcosta Blvd in San Ramon
Crow Canyon Gardens Speaker Series: Master Gardener Kerry Johnson on Pruning Techniques, Types and Timing

Stroll through the garden while learning about gardening, composting, California native plants, California ecology, and more.
On Saturday, June 1 at noon, Master Gardener Kerry Johnson will share insights on pruning techniques, types and timing.
Pre-registration is required. No day of registration will be allowed.

Construction Update: Crow Canyon Widening
Paving Operations Under Way
Work continues on the Crow Canyon Widening Project between Alcosta Boulevard and Crow Canyon Private (Cobblestone).
Work Recently Completed Through 5/30/24:
- Paving operations and roadway striping from the Alcosta intersection through the Crow Canyon Road at Tahiti/El Capitan intersection, Tahiti Drive, and El Capitan southbound
- Comcast eastbound utility relocation work
- Excavation and concrete work between Barbados and Crow Canyon Private
- Paving operations are under way
Work Planned Through 6/6/24:
- Eastbound grinding and paving operations are under way. Grinding and paving locations are as follows:
- Crow Canyon Road eastbound between Tahiti Drive and St. George Road (one lane will be open for traffic at all times)
- Barbados Drive between Crow Canyon Road and Tahiti Drive will be closed continuously for approximately two (2) more weeks (traffic detoured to Tahiti Drive)
- Intersection of Crow Canyon Road at Crow Canyon Private (flagger-controlled during grinding and paving operations). Expect some delays entering and exiting on Friday, May 31 and Monday, June 3. Emergency vehicles and drivers with emergencies will not be delayed.
- Intersection of Crow Canyon Road at St. George Road. Left turns will not be permitted on Monday June 3 due to paving operations. Eastbound drivers will detoured to make a U-turn at Canyon Crest Drive. Westbound drivers will be detoured to make a U-turn at Tahiti Drive.
- Eastbound landscape and irrigation work
- Continue westbound Crow Canyon Road storm drain work. This work requires closure of one westbound travel lane.

Construction Update: Iron Horse Trail Overcrossing
Work continues on the Iron Horse Trail Overcrossing at Bollinger Canyon Road. Please see below for anticipated upcoming work.
Work Recently Completed Through 5/30/24:
- Poured Pier 5 bottom column
- Poured Pier 5 Y-section
- Set Pile Cap Vertical Bar Support and Pour Grout for Pier 3 (median area)
- Formed / poured North Leveling Pad
- Formed / poured South Leveling Pad
- North MSE Wall structure substantially complete
- Poured Pier 3 Pile Cap
- Poured Pier 3 Pedestal
Work Anticipated Through 6/6/24:
- Continue demolition, excavation on the Iron Horse Trail
- Continue MSE wall work on the south side of Iron Horse Trail
- Continue embankment fill
- Install MSE wall drainage
