San Ramon Residents Asked To Pick Crow Canyon Crossing Design Choice

Residents have until Thursday morning to complete a survey expressing their favorite of three design choices.

SAN RAMON, CA — San Ramon is beginning the design phase of a planned Iron Horse Trail pedestrian crossing over Crow Canyon Road.

Staff and consultants have developed three design options based on public and City Council input, shown in the photos above, and the public is invited to express their preference. Designs include a Butterfly Arch bridge (first photo), Truss Arch (second photo), and Railroad Truss (third photo.)

All options are of similar cost and construction impact, the city said.

The public can review renderings and voice their preference in a survey that is open until 9 a.m. on Thursday. Based on Facebook comments, most viewers seem to prefer the Butterfly Arch out of three, though many expressed reservations about all of them blocking views and interfering with the widening project.

In May, the city broke ground on an overcrossing over Bollinger Canyon Road, which is expected to be finished in late 2024 or early 2025. The latest update on that project can be found here.
