San Ramon Starbucks Location To Close Saturday
The sudden closings are part of a nationwide move to shut down underperforming stores.

SAN RAMON, CA — The Starbucks at City Center is closing Saturday, a store employee confirmed to Patch. It will close as a part of a nationwide push to close hundreds of locations. Two Danville locations on Hartz Avenue and Crow Canyon Place will also close Saturday, according to employees and the Starbucks website.
The Starbucks at the Magnolia Square Shopping Center at 2005 Crow Canyon Place and at 21001 San Ramon Valley Boulevard are not listed as "closed" Sunday on the Starbucks website, which is how a list of closing stores was generated despite Starbucks not releasing an official one.
Other Bay Area locations listed as closed include:

Starbucks said Thursday that it expects to end its fiscal year with 18,300 stores in North America, down 124 from last year.
CEO Brian Niccol, a turnaround specialist who was brought to Starbucks a year ago to give the brand a jolt, said in a letter that a review of Starbucks locations revealed that many are falling short of financial performance targets or are failing to create the environment customers expect.

“Each year, we open and close coffeehouses for a variety of reasons, from financial performance to lease expirations,” Niccol wrote. “This is a more significant action that we understand will impact partners and customers. Our coffeehouses are centers of the community, and closing any location is difficult.”
Starbucks said it will offer severance and support packages for affected employees.
