Unoccupied Home Significantly Damaged in San Ramon Fire

It has been abandoned for years and may have been slated for future development.

SAN RAMON, CA: A fire significantly damaged a home that has been unoccupied for years on a rural road near San Ramon on Monday evening, according to fire officials. The fire was reported at 6:24 p.m. in the 18800 block of Bollinger Canyon Road in unincorporated Contra Costa County, according to San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District officials.

Battalion Chief Jim Selover said responding fire crews arrived within several minutes and found the home engulfed in flames. Within around 30 minutes, the crews knocked down the blaze, which did not extend to structures that surrounded it. There was no one residing in the home, Selover said.

It has been abandoned for years and may have been slated for future development. Selover described the damage to the home as significant but was not immediately able to provide an estimate on the potential cost. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
