More Earthquakes Rattle NorCal, Near San Ramon

It is the latest of more than 300 temblors since November.

SAN RAMON, CA — A series of earthquakes shook parts of Northern California again on Sunday and Monday, according to the United States Geological Survey.

First, a 4.7 magnitude earthquake rattled at 4:41 in Lassen Coounty near Susanville. It had a radius of 15 kilometers and a depth of 5 kilometers. Then a smaller earthquake, 2.5, also shook the area at 11:56 a.m. Sunday.

Some 280 miles west, near San Ramon, a 2.2 magnitude earthquake lightly shook the area at 5:45 a.m. on Monday, according to the USGS.

Another swarm of about seven small quakes, hit the area between Sunday and Monday.

San Ramon has seen more than 300 earthquakes since November, according to USGS, so much so that it's starting to make international news.

Earlier this week, the city issued a news release updating its earthquake readiness resources and policies, which include an Emergency Operations Center, coordination with several local agencies, updates through several channels, and free emergency preparedness trainings provided in partnership with the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District.
