Water Main Breaks at San Ramon Community Center; Facility Expected to be Closed Until Wednesday

The break occurred underground but didn't cause any damage to the buildings on site, city staff said.

An underground water main broke at the Monday afternoon, resulting in the immediate closure of the community center, Facilities Maintenance Program Manager Sandy Tenborg said.

Something was noticeably wrong when San Ramon Community Center staff saw running water pushing gravel and muddying the water in the fountain on the backside of the community center.

San Ramon Public Services staff quickly arrived on scene, and have begun to work with a city contractor to repair the main, which is five feet underground. The community center will remain closed, along with the restrooms at Central Park, until the main is repaired and water service is restored, which is expected to be Wednesday morning.
