78-Year-Old Man Killed In Crash

The crash happened Thursday on Quail Hollow Road in Santa Cruz County.

SANTA CRUZ, CA —The California Highway Patrol is reporting a man was killed Thursday in a traffic crash in Santa Cruz County.

On Thursday at 11:01 a.m., CHP officers responded to a report of a solo vehicle crash on Quail Hollow Road, north of East Zayante Road.

A 78-year-old man from Ben Lomond was driving a 2013 Kia Soul south on Quail Hollow Road when the vehicle veered off the roadway, down a dirt embankment and crashed into a guy wire, according to the CHP.

The vehicle continued down the embankment and into Zayante Creek. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.

The cause of the crash was under investigation as of Thursday evening.
