
Sheriff's deputy Roger Galvin will be awarded the Deputy of the Year honor by Aptos Post 10110 Veterans of Foreign Wars this week, the Sheriff's Office announced Monday.
Every year a deputy is honored with this award for their outstanding work and dedication. Deputy Galvin was chosen because of his passion and commitment to the public he serves.
An example of how Galvin’s hard work paid off was when he began to investigate a residential burglary case, accorrding to deputy April Skalland, the Sheriff's Office spokeswoman. Galvin identified a potential suspect and continued to do follow up on the case.

He learned the potential suspect was pawning the stolen property in San Francisco. After a long and thorough investigation, Galvin interviewed the suspect and obtained a full confession. He was able to return $30,000 worth of antique silver pieces back to the victim and the suspect was arrested for multiple burglaries involving several victims.
