Boulder Creek Man Dies In Santa Cruz Crash

The vehicle was traveling northbound on SR-17.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A 72-year-old man from Boulder Creek was killed after driving off a road and colliding into a wooden post around 12:45 p.m. on March 6.

According to CHP, Stephen Gardner was traveling northbound on SR-17 south of El Rancho Drive when he lost control of his vehicle, went off the road and collided into a wooden post. The vehicle then collided with another post before hitting a tree located along the right shoulder.

As a result of the collision, Gardner suffered major injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

This crash is still under investigation and it is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were involved.
