Fire Contained At Santa Cruz Restaurant

Firefighters determined the fire was located in the kitchen and quickly extinguished the flames with support from backup crews.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A kitchen fire broke out Friday at a restaurant on Soquel Avenue, prompting a swift response from the Santa Cruz Fire Department.

Fire crews were dispatched to 230 Soquel Avenue and arrived to find black smoke coming from the roof's HVAC system, the fire department said.

Firefighters determined the fire was located in the kitchen and quickly extinguished the flames with support from backup crews.

The fire was contained to a section of a wall and a large kitchen appliance. No injuries were reported, and firefighters confirmed no one was trapped inside.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
