Highway 9 Traffic Snarled by Head-on Crash

The early morning crash has reduced the popular roadway to one lane Wednesday.

 

A head-on crash involving a pickup truck and a van snarled traffic on state Highway 9 in Santa Cruz County early this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 5:37 a.m. near Teilh Drive, and both lanes of traffic were closed for more than an hour.

The southbound lane reopened around 6:55 a.m., and one-way traffic control was in effect.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and the CHP has not yet released details about the extent of drivers' injuries.
