SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — The last of three public meetings will be held today in Santa Cruz on programming related to Santa Cruz County's Mental Health Services Act, county officials said. The meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Santa Cruz Police Department at 155 Center St.

County officials said the purpose of the act is to improve and expand the mental health system and mental health services in the county. The act pays for a variety of services such as early childhood programs, as well as youth, LGBTQ, senior and other population-based services, among others.

Through the act, the county spends about $13 million each year on mental health care and well-being in the county. About $80 million each year is spent in the county on community behavioral health care.
