Forward Progress Stopped On New Big Sur Fire

The Big Sur Fire Chief said that forward progress has been stopped on a fire that broke out Wednesday morning in Big Sur.

BIG SUR, CA — Firefighters have stopped a roughly 2.5-acre brush fire that burned Wednesday morning, according to the Big Sur Fire Department chief.

The fire broke out in the Eucalyptus area of the Plaskett Creek campground near Highway 1 around 8:22 a.m. Wednesday. The National Weather Service Bay Area tweeted a satellite photo of the area where the fire reportedly broke out.

So far, no other details on the wildfire are available. However, high wind advisories across Northern California and dry weather are raising concerns the fire might spread more quickly. A wind advisory is in effect in the Santa Cruz Mountains and around the Bay Area until Thursday.
