Pedestrian Killed On Highway 1
The crash happened at the intersection of Highway 1 and River Street.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A pedestrian was killed while crossing state Highway 1 in Santa Cruz early Thursday morning, according to police.
Around 2:30 a.m., Santa Cruz officers were alerted to a report of a collision at the intersection of Highway 1 and River Street. Police said a vehicle was traveling north on Highway 1 at the intersection of River Street when it collided with a 30-year-old man who was crossing the roadway.
First responders tried to save the pedestrian, but he eventually succumbed to his injuries, according to police.

The man was a Santa Cruz County resident. His identity was not immediately released, pending notification of his next of kin.
According to police, the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene of the collision and cooperated with investigators.

There was no evidence of driver impairment or negligence, and no arrest has been made, police said.
