Rain In Santa Cruz: Where To Get Sandbags This Winter
Know where to get sandbags as rain descends on the Bay Area.
SANTA CRUZ, CA — Winter is officially here and rainy weather is in the forecast for Santa Cruz.
If you need to bolster your property, empty sandbags are available at the following locations.
- Fire Administration Office, 230 Walnut St. (Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to noon, 1 to 4 p.m.).
- London Nelson Community Center, 301 Center St. (Monday to Friday 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
Bring a shovel and fill the bags with free sand located at the following locations.

- Harvey West Park, 326 Evergreen St.
- Depot Park, 119 Center St.
Sandbags should be filled halfway, with the top folded down, according to the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes. Lay the sandbag to rest on the folded top and limit stacking to three layers unless a building is propping the stack up, according to the alliance.
