SANTA CRUZ, CA — Crews are battling a wildfire on Highway 1 just north of Western Drive in Santa Cruz, police said. Northbound Highway 1 is closed at Western Drive.

"Please avoid the area and use alternate routes," police wrote in an alert. "Detour Western Dr to High St until further notice."
