Severe Traffic Alert in Effect After Crash Blocks Northbound Highway 17 Lanes

The California Highway Patrol is responding to an accident on northbound state Highway 17 in unincorporated Santa Clara County, blocking traffic from Santa Cruz.

There is a severe traffic alert for this section of the deadly highway northbound past Madrone Drive in Los Gatos.

All lanes are blocked by a multiple vehicle accident. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays. There is no estimated time to reopen the roadway, according to the alert.

Four to five cars are believed to be involved in the crash, which was reported at about 9:50 a.m. just north of Redwood Estates Road, CHP Officer James Evans said.

Both northbound lanes are blocked, and the CHP is at the scene. No injuries were reported.

On our Los Gatos Patch Commute alert feature, the accident was also being reported warning motorists to "Expect Some Delays In SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAINS accident. right lane blocked on HWY 17 NB at BIG MOODY CURVE. Stop and go traffic from SUMMIT RD."
