Skateboarder Seriously Injured In Santa Cruz Crash

A 45-year-old man was struck by a car Monday evening in downtown Santa Cruz.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A 45-year-old skateboarder was seriously injured Monday evening after he was truck by a car, police said.

The collision occurred around 5:35 p.m. at the intersection on Laurel Street at the intersection with Front Street, Santa Cruz police said in a preliminary update.

He was conscious and alert when he was taken to Dominican Hospital, then flown to a trauma center.

Police continue to investigate. The driver stopped and cooperated with officers on scene.
