Star Student Samara Runs Her Own Business, Donates To Nonprofits
She is an artist, soccer player and straight A student.

, CA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Heather Cortazzo who nominated Samara of Santa Cruz.

How do you know the star local student?
She’s my daughter
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Samara is not only a star student through her academic achievements, but she is also a working artist. Samara is a young entrepreneur. She owns and operates her own small business. She takes her original art and transfers those images to hats, shirts, sweatshirts, stickers, pins and prints. She sells her designs in local shops in Santa Cruz and Felton. Samara believes it’s very important to give back to her community and to the planet. Samara donates a portion of her proceeds every year to nonprofits focused on bettering the world we live in. Samara is an extraordinary person who gives 100 % every single day. She is an excellent candidate for your Star Student Recognition.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Samara always gives 100%. She is a kind and compassionate friend, a talented and successful artist, a dedicated and hard working soccer player and a straight A student.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Samara!
