2 Boys Suspected In Vandalism, Burglary At Santa Monica School
Two boys were suspected of vandalism and burglary at a Santa Monica school, authorities said.
SANTA MONICA, CA — Two boys were suspected of vandalism and burglary at a Santa Monica school, authorities said.
Officers arrived at John Muir Elementary School, 2526 6th Street, about 9:05 p.m. Sunday, according to Lt. Rudy Flores of the Santa Monica Police Department.
Someone reported seeing a group of people jumping over a fence and onto school grounds, Flores said.

When officers arrived they found two boys in the school administration building, Flores said. They ran away from the police but were shortly detained and taken into custody.
An investigation revealed freshly painted graffiti, several shattered windows, classrooms and an administration office was ransacked, Flores said.

During the incident, an LAPD Airship responded to assist with the search, Flores said. Officers transported both suspects to the SMPD station where they were cited for burglary and ultimately released into the custody of their parents. Their names were not released.
