Attempted Murder Charge For Man Who Stabbed Siblings At SM Beach: Police

One of two men wanted for attempting to murder two siblings at the beach over the weekend has been arrested.

SANTA MONICA, CA — One of two men wanted for stabbing a pair of siblings at the beach in Santa Monica over the weekend has been arrested, according to police.

The stabbing occurred before 2:30 a.m. Saturday, when a 28-year-old woman, her 24-year-old brother, and three others were on a late-night trip to the beach, the woman told KTLA.

The group went down to put their toes in the water when they noticed two men drinking and riding scooters on the boardwalk. The two men approached the woman and her brother and began harassing them before stabbing them with pocket knives, KTLA reported.

The suspects fled the scene, police said.

They called police and paramedics, who responded and rendered aid to the two victims. The man sustained multiple stab wounds to his upper torso and the woman sustained several stab wounds, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

The man was in critical but stable condition as of Monday night, while the woman had been released, police said.

One suspect, Ivan Angel Plancarte, 20, of San Gabriel, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Monday. He's being held on $1 million bail and is due in court on Wednesday, police said.

The second suspect remains at large. He is described as a thin man who was wearing a gray sweater and blue bandana or face mask.
