SANTA MONICA, CA — A body was found Sunday in the water near a lifeguard tower at the border of Santa Monica and Venice.

The body was found Sunday morning near Lifeguard Tower 28, near Ashland Avenue, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

The identity and cause of death were not immediately available.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Division will investigate the incident, Lt. Rudy Flores told Patch.
