Firefighter Injured During Encino Apartment Fire
The fire started in the complex's recreational room, forcing several residents to temporarily evacuate.
SHERMAN OAKS, CA — A firefighter was injured while battling an apartment fire in Encino Tuesday night. The blaze broke out at 5310 Zelzah Ave. shortly after 7 p.m., forcing some occupants to temporarily evacuate.
Initial reports said the fire started in the recreation room on the first livable floor of the building. According to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department, the fire had spread to an "unknown number of units" by 7:40 p.m. with crews requesting more resources.
It took 41 firefighters 48 minutes to extinguish the fire. One firefighter was evaluated for "undetermined injuries," and no other injuries were reported.
