Investigation of Mel Gibson's Ex-Girlfriend Goes to DA

The results of an investigation by sheriff's detectives into claims by actor Mel Gibson that his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva tried to extort money from him are now in the hands of the district attorney, the county Sheriff's Department reported Wednesday.

"The results of the investigation involving Grigorieva were delivered to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office on Wednesday," said a sheriff's spokesman. He declined to say whether detectives are supporting a filing of charges against Grigorieva, 40, who lives in Sherman Oaks.

The Sheriff's Department has been investigating Grigorieva since Gibson claimed she attempted to extort money from him while they were involved in a child custody dispute.

County prosecutors were reviewing potential cases against both Grigorieva and Gibson.

Detectives investigated Gibson over allegations that he hit Grigorieva during a fight last year. No charges have been filed against Gibson.

Earlier this week in Sherman Oaks, Grigorieva and her friend  Jimmy Hoyson, a sound engineer, were seen having dinner on Valentine's Day at the Sweet Butter Kitchen on Ventura Boulevard.
