Meet, Mingle, Move Makes Finding a Roommate Fun
The company aims to create a fun social setting at their roommate finding parties.
Finding a roommate in Los Angeles has always been a challenge. We’ve all heard or experienced horror stories, but one Hollywood-based company is working to take the stress out of finding the right person.
Meet, Mingle, Move was launched by Hollywood resident Art Lynch based on the idea that regular social mixers help set the stage for finding a compatible roommate. It’s done in the dating world, why not apply it to the roommate search? Similar companies have launched in New York and United Kingdom and until now have yet to take root in Los Angeles.
Meet, Mingle, Move’s is planned at on Wednesday night. There will be appetizers, a hosted bar and giveaways. Tickets are $10.
Patch recently sat down with Lynch to get a better idea of his business.
Patch: How did you decide to create Meet, Mingle, Move? You must have lived with a terrible roommate.
Art Lynch: I moved to L.A. in 2009 and I had an unfortunate roommate experience, moving in with someone I did not know. I spent a lot of time and money driving around the city. I thought that there had to be a better way to help folks in L.A. break the ice and be more efficient with the move-in process.
Patch: So explain the concept behind the mixers.
Lynch: We will be hosting events twice per month and the whole goal is to make the process for finding a roommate social. Everybody goes online and you have the ability to talk to many people, but you don’t really know who you’re going to live with when it comes down to it. Meet, Mingle, Move is designed to allow you to meet multiple people in one setting to make the process fun and social.
Patch: What can someone attending expect from one of these mixers?

Lynch: You check in, you’ll be given a drink ticket — venues have drink specials for individuals and their guests attending. The first 30 minutes is a chance to feel the room out and then we’ll get into the mixing lounge where you’ll spend some segmented time with each individual. You’ll be given tools to take notes down, questions to ask. There’s a debriefing period in the last 30 minutes. The whole goal is to make contact with individuals you hit it off with and eventually setup a visit or a tour of their apartment.
Patch: Part of the package includes free admission for a friend. What’s the thinking behind this element?
Lynch: No one likes to go to a party alone, right? The whole goal is to have someone there to talk to and in addition to be able to weed and vet out the people who you’re speaking with. Sometimes we can't make those decisions on our own.
Patch: Your business launched in April. What is your vision for it?
Lynch: The vision is to expand to expand cross-country. We’d love to be in other markets where the cost of living is very high. We’d love to be in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Dallas other large markets so we can help individuals in a tough economy and make the process fun and social.
