Mallory Anne Davenport passed away peacefully in Sonoma on January 18th with her friends and family by her side as a brilliant full moon was rising over the hills.
Mallory was born in San Francisco on October 27, 1964. She was the daughter of Robert F. Davenport and Mallory Grant Davenport. She grew up in San Francisco and Marin County and moved to Sonoma twenty years ago. Mallory worked at a variety of jobs, including as a taxi driver. For the past three years she was a service coordinator for the Salvation Army in Sonoma.
An active member of the community, who advocated for many causes, Mallory volunteered a lot of time to many charities. She and her youngest son Tyler successfully teamed up to collect money at Dunbar School for the “African Wells Fund” to provide water for villages in Africa. She also worked with the Sonoma Ecology Center to start the Maxwell Park Stream Stewards, a group which she led for several years.
Mallory enjoyed hiking and being in nature. Her favorite singer was Seal. Her motto was “Do no harm.” She lived by spiritual principles and was always available to help others. Mallory often reminded us to “Be grateful for the small things in life.”
She was a wonderful mother who adored her family and friends. She is survived by her loving children Rhett, Rhiannon, and Tyler; and her step-father Hank. She also leaves behind many dear friends, including members of “Team Mallory” who provided exceptional care in her last months.
A celebration of Mallory’s life will be held at Maxwell Regional Park this Sunday, January 23rd , 11:30 am, near the junction of the Bay Tree and Three Meadows Trails. Parking at the Regional Park main entrance or at Paul’s Field (across Verano Av). Follow the signs and ribbons. Potluck reception following at 1 pm, at the Moose Lodge, 20580 Broadway. Donations to benefit her three children can be made through “Team Mallory” on Facebook, or at the events on Sunday.
