Attempted Sexual Assault Reported On North Bay Trail
The suspect is wanted for assault to commit rape.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A woman who was jogging on the Joe Rodota Trail in Sonoma County on Thursday was the victim of an attempted sexual assault, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The woman was on a run on the trail at about 8 p.m. between Merced Avenue and Llano Road when an unknown male approached her from behind, grabbed her buttocks and forced her to the ground. According to the woman, the suspect made statements indicating that he was going to sexually assault her. She was able to fend him off and call the police.
The suspect is described as a thin, Hispanic man between the ages of 18 and 20, with long black hair. He was wearing a purple hooded sweatshirt, gray pants and black shoes. He was last seen headed westbound on the trail towards the city of Sebastopol.
