Smoky Skies In Sonoma County Today: What To Know
Control burns at Foothill, Sonoma Valley, and Tolay Lake regional parks begin today and continue during October and November.

SONOMA VALLEY, CA — Sonoma County Regional Parks and CAL FIRE are conducting permitted prescribed burns at the Sonoma Valley Regional Park starting today.
The public should not call 9-1-1 to report smoke or fire unless it is coming from an unattended fire outside the park, according to fire officials.
The burns will continue later at Tolay Lake and Foothill regional parks into November.

The burns are a land management tool to reduce wildfire risk, improve ecosystem health and protect surrounding communities.
Exact dates for the burns are weather-dependent and will be announced on the website, the Watch Duty app, and on signs within parks where the burns are happening.

Parks will be closed on burn days and will reopen when operations are complete.
Do not enter the parks during burns.
Burns will be cancelled if conditions are unsafe or not enough personnel are available, according to fire officials.
Current or planned prescribed fire operations include:
- Sonoma Valley Regional Park - October 22
- Tolay Lake Regional Park - October 24
- Foothill Regional Park - November 12-13
