Desert Quakes Felt in L.A. County

UPDATE: The earthquake based in the SoCal desert region and felt in Los Angeles County, was downgraded to a 4.7 magnitude earthquake, according to the U.S. Geological Survey's website.

PREVIOUS: A 5.2 magnitude earthquake centered in Riverside County shook parts of Los Angeles County Monday morning.

The tremor struck at 9:56 a.m. about 17 miles south of Palm Springs, according to the U.S. Geological Survey's website. An aftershock with a magnitude of 3.2 was reported two minutes later in the Anza area of Riverside County.

The quake was felt as far away as Los Angeles, according to to USGS website.

Already, responses are pouring into the U.S.G.S. of people saying they felt the temblor, using their "did you feel it" app.

So far, there have been no reports of damage or injuries, though the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, which serves many of the cities in the Coachella Valley, tells Patch that they did get several alarm calls, after they went off due to the quake.

There are no reports of damage at this time.
