Gas Prices Drop for 21 Days Straight in the Region

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County fell today for the 21st consecutive day and 27th time in 28 days, decreasing seven-tenths of a cent to $4.11.

The average price in the county is 7 cents less than one week ago, 21.5 cents lower than one month ago and 25.6 cents below what it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has dropped 21.5 cents over the past 28 days, including a half-cent on Monday. It had risen 32 times in 33 days before the decreases began, increasing 57.6 cents.
The Orange County average price fell today for today for the 26th consecutive day, decreasing a half-cent to $4.078. It is 7.7 cents less than one week ago, 23.6 cents lower than one month ago and 26.7 cents below what it was one year ago.

The prices have been dropping because most California refineries have concluded scheduled maintenance without experiencing any major incidents before the switch to summer blend production, resulting in adequate gasoline supplies, said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
