Rain Headed to Southern California

A cold front heading to Southern California is expected to produce light rain
or drizzle around Baldwin Park Thursday afternoon and Friday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

According to the NWS forecast there is a 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 4 p.m. Thursday in South Gate and Lynwood. Temperatures will be High 64 Farenheit. Winds at 5 to 10 mph.

The low-pressure system, forecast to arrive late Thursday or early Friday, will produce showers across Southern California and up to 6 inches of snow at elevations of more than about 3,500 feet.

Forecasters said there was a slight chance Friday's storm could produce thunderstorms or hail, and snow could affect high-elevation roads.

The sunny days will come back over the weekend.

Here is the forecast for South Gate and Lynwood.

• Thursday Night:Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 4pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4pm. High near 57. East wind around 5 mph becoming west southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
• Friday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 4pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4pm. High near 56. East wind around 5 mph becoming south southwest in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
• Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
