Suspect from Lynwood Arrested in Connection to Los Angeles County Burglaries

Dean Hampton from Lynwood was arrested three other suspects.

TORRANCE (CNS) - Four suspects have been arrested for allegedly participating in a burglary ring that committed more than 50 crimes around Los Angeles County, including 16 in Torrance, police said today.

Arrested were Javon Zachery, 21, and Reginald Wilson, 20, both of Compton; Dean Hampton, 26, of Lynwood; and Avion Speed, 21, of Bellflower, said Torrance police Sgt. Robert Watt.

The suspects allegedly entered department stores, picked out a large amount of women's clothing and/or accessories and fled without paying for the items. They also allegedly stole women's shoes and purses, Watt said.

Warrants were served in Compton and Bellflower, and investigators recovered stolen property linking the suspects to the burglaries, Watt said.

"Investigators were also able to tie all four suspects with a criminal street gang based out of the city of Compton, which now allows the District Attorney's Office to add gang enhancements to all of the suspects' charges,'' Watt said.

"Gang enhancements allow for suspects to be given longer sentences and makes them ineligible for early release under (a law) that allows for low-level inmates to be released early from their respective sentences as the state attempts to reduce the state prison population,'' Watt said.
