Possible Gang-Related Fatal Shooting Near South Pasadena

A man killed Monday night on McKenzie Avenue died at a Los Angeles area hospital from a possible gang-related shooting.

SOUTH PASADENA, CA — Authorities Tuesday identified a man who was shot and killed in the Monterey Hills section of Los Angeles.

The shooting was reported at 7:25 p.m. Monday in the 3700 block of McKenzie Avenue, said Officer Liliana Preciado of the Los Angles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

Jonixer Ramirez, 24, of Los Angeles died at a hospital, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

Ramirez was standing on the street when he was gunned down by an unidentified suspect, Preciado said. Police were investigating the shooting as possibly gang-related, she said.
