Bay Area Armed Robbery And Kidnapping Suspect Found After Weeks: Police

Police said the 26-year-old man was located after the crimes were reported in July.

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA β€” Police said they arrested a 26-year-old man Thursday stemming from an incident in July in South San Francisco where he is accused of pulling a gun on someone and forcing them to go to the bank and withdraw money.

At around 2:30 a.m. on July 14, South San Francisco Police Department officers said they responded to a report of an armed robbery on the 2500 block of Bantry Lane.

Police said they learned that the victim had invited over an acquaintance, later identified as James Williams, 26, of Oakland, to his home.

When Williams arrived, he pulled out a gun and demanded money, police said.

Williams then ordered the victim to drive them both to a nearby bank and withdraw more money, which the victim did out of fear for his life, police said.

After getting the money, police said Williams left the area in a car.

Officers said during the investigation over the last several weeks, Williams continued to contact the victim and threatened him with violence if he didn't send more money.

On Thursday, the US Marshals Fugitive Apprehension Team arrested Williams for a no-bail felony warrant for armed robbery and kidnapping and found him carrying a concealed gun in Oakland.
