Happy Easter: God’s Unconditional Love

Happy Easter to SSF residents and all earth’s residents.

The most common cliched Bible quotations reason for Lent :

“John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

“John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

Many miss Easter’s message about God’s love. Some folks believe that you’ve got to do hard work to earn God’s love ; There is nothing you can to do to earn God’s love. It’s by grace you’re already loved, like the sun shines and rain falls on the just and the unjust. He reminds us he is a constant and loves you just the same whether you’re lean or overweight, have 1 cent or billions in the bank, shower everyday or have not taken a bath for 30 years in the desert, an ignoramus inside a cave or have 10 Ph.d’s from prestigious university, a janitor or a President of a superpower country, a plain Jane or a Miss Universe title holder, or anonymous ugly Joe or as handsome as Brad Pitt; etc, etc, etc.

It is the human beings in a material earth that label and size you up. The reason for so much pain, lack, put downs leading to hopelessness and depression.

There’s nothing you can do to get God to love you more. You got it already. You're enough and a worthy human. You don’t need to turn up your charm or up-level your physique by having a beach body or a six pack abs, God will not be impressed because he is the creator of the Universe. He’s got everything already.

The simple truth of Easter is —God is already in love with you. No need to try hard.You’re the Apple in His mighty eyes. He has your photo in his home page,he has your photo as a screensaver in his supercomputer. All you need is to have faith and believe. He loves just the way you are.

God’s love is unconditional without prerequisites or requirements, or an agenda with motives to get something (a quid pro quo, this for that) because He is Love himself.

James 2:26 “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
It’s great to give thanks to his love with our works to show your belief.

This Easter article is dedicated to two South San Francisco friends Nita Ricotta and Mira McTiernan who passed away last year. These two were “Parishioner of the Year” at St. Veronica’s Church for their good deeds and services for so many years. I worked with them in Grief Ministry. They’re enjoying Heaven this Easter. I wasn’t able to attend their funerals because I’m usually out of town spending Holidays with family and friends.
