'He didn't get to live life': Mother grieves son killed in Stockton shooting (abc10.com) — A Stockton mother is mourning her 21-year-old son, killed while helping people escape a recent mass shooting on Lucile Avenue, and is preparing for his funeral and a separate celebration of life. She’s receiving support from the City of Stockton’s Peace Keepers program and has launched a GoFundMe to help honor him, while urging compassion and unity among affected families.
   

2. Families invited to learn about Unbound Stockton school (lodinews.com) — Families in Stockton are invited to a free holiday celebration this Saturday, Dec. 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church, where kids ages 7 to 13 can enjoy activities, gifts, and photos with Santa. The event also offers a chance to learn about Unbound Stockton Community School, a free public charter now accepting applications for fourth- through eighth-graders for the 2026-27 school year.

Remembering Linda Leigh Mann (shreveportbossierjournal.com) — Friends and former neighbors with ties to Stockton may remember that Linda Leigh Mann, who was born in Stockton in 1947, has passed away at 78. Her family recalls a life centered on faith, service to the homeless, deep Bible study, and devoted grandparenting after many years in Oregon and, more recently, Louisiana.

Pope Leo names Bishop Ramón Bejarano to lead Diocese of Monterey (catholicreview.org) — A newly appointed Bishop of Monterey once served local Catholics as a priest in the Diocese of Stockton, including at St. George Parish in Stockton and nearby parishes in Turlock and Modesto. His story traces a journey from migrant work in the San Joaquin Valley to church leadership, with roots that many Stockton-area parishioners may remember personally.
