"Only club members 60 and older, people with disabilities and immunocompromised shoppers will be admitted during those hours," AARP reports.
Costco members who work in health care or as first responders can also shop during these hours with proper identification.
The news comes as Governor Gavin Newsom recently announced California health care workers and state employees will have to submit proof of vaccination, or allow coronavirus testing at least once a week, due to the latest surge in coronavirus cases.
"As the state's largest employer, we are leading by example and requiring all state and health care workers to show proof of vaccination or be tested regularly, and we are encouraging local governments and businesses to do the same," he said in a statement. "Vaccines are safe โ they protect our family, those who truly can't get vaccinated, our children and our economy. Vaccines are the way we end this pandemic."
