Wind Advisory Issued In Studio City

STUDIO CITY, CA — It’s gone from rain and wind to heat and wind in Studio City this week. The National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard office issued a wind advisory for the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys, and the Santa Monica Mountains that will last until 3 p.m. Thursday.

Air flow from the desert is expected to bring dry, hot winds of up to 92 degrees in Studio City, according to the National Weather Service. Winds are expected to reach up to 10 miles an hour. Wind gusts in other San Fernando Valley locations are expected to reach up to 40 miles an hour, according to the National Weather Service. 45 mph winds will gust through the Santa Monica Mountains.

Despite the high temperatures and hot winds, higher than usual humidity levels that are partly due to the rain earlier in the week mean that there is no fire danger, according to the NWS.

Residents are advised to be careful when driving, and bring in objects like trash bins and outdoor furniture that could blow away. Outages may occur if tree limbs are broken and damage power lines, National Weather Service Meteorologist Joe Sirard told the Los Angeles Daily News.
