Brush Fires Send Smoke Across Riverside County: See Where They Are
Four fires burned Tuesday, though the largest — 2,387 acres — was finally brought to full containment after burning for 17 days.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — Smelling smoke in Riverside County? Several fires were burning on Tuesday.
A wildfire that erupted Tuesday in the mountains between Temecula and the Coachella Valley has scorched 30 acres as of Tuesday afternoon, according to Cal Fire.
The blaze, dubbed the Fobes Fire, was reported shortly after 1 p.m. in a remote area of the San Bernardino National Forest near Highway 74 and Morris Ranch Road, North of Thomas Mountain, Cal Fire said.

The brush fire was sending smoke across the Riverside County area.
No injuries or evacuation orders have been reported, and no structures were immediately threatened.

The U.S. Forest Service is the lead agency battling the blaze.
A Forest Service road was closed to general traffic for public safety, but Highway 74 was not impacted.
Firefighters will be working on containment well into the night.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department crews were also at the scene Tuesday afternoon of a roughly 2-acre mulch fire with a moderate rate of spread around Van Buren Street and 59th Avenue in the Thermal/La Quinta area.
The non-injury blaze was reported shortly after 3:15 p.m. Its advance was halted about two hours later, according to the fire department.
The agency said no structures were threatened. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
Crews finally wrapped up work Tuesday on the 2,387-acre Wolf Fire that broke out June 29 at Old Banning Idyllwild Road and Wolfskill Truck Trail near Banning. At 4 p.m. Tuesday, Cal Fire announced the blaze was 100% contained.
The Wolf Fire had forced evacuations. Three firefighters were injured battling the blaze, and one structure was destroyed.
The cause of the Wolf Fire remains under investigation.
