Idyllwild Motorcyclist Dies In Highway 74 Crash

The Harley Davidson rider crashed on the eastbound side of the tw0-lane corridor in Bee Canyon, California Highway Patrol officers say.

IDYLLWILD, CA — A 39-year-old motorcyclist was fatally injured in a crash on Highway 74 between Hemet and Mountain Center, authorities said Tuesday.

Erik Mortensen of Idyllwild suffered grave injuries about 6:40 p.m. Monday when he crashed on the eastbound side of the two-lane corridor in an area known as Bee Canyon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officer Jeffrey Osteen told City News Service that Mortensen was riding a 2019 Harley-Davidson when he went down for reasons still under investigation.
No other vehicles were involved.

Witnesses called 911 after the crash, and Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the location a short time later.

The victim was taken to Hemet Global Medical Center, where he died about 7:45 p.m. Monday, according to the Riverside County Coroner's Office.
