With Monday's announcement came news that updated assessed values for individual properties are now available for review.
Remember, the assessed value is the cash or market value of a property at the time of its purchase.

This value increases not more than 2% per year until the property is sold or any new construction is completed, at which time it must be reassessed.
The assessed value is used to apply the appropriate tax rates. After tax rates are applied against the assessed value, the county Auditor-Controller calculates the total tax amount. The Tax Collector prepares property tax bills based on the Auditor-Controller's calculations, distributes the bills, and then collects the taxes.
Riverside County property owners who believe their updated assessed value exceeds the market value of their property as of January 1, 2025, are encouraged to contact the Assessor’s Office or file an appeal during the official filing period, which runs from July 2 through December 1.
