Here are five things happening in Temecula this week, May 21-27.

TEMECULA, CA — Here are five things to know in Temecula this week. We hope it's a good one for all!

1. The Temecula City Council meets Tuesday, and there are several important items on the agenda, including traffic relief. The Council is expected to approve plans and specifications and give its OK to solicit construction bids for a piece of the I-15 Congestion Relief Project. While there are several facets to the massive project, the city is taking the lead on part of it: constructing a new auxiliary lane on northbound Interstate 15 from the Temecula Parkway on-ramp to the Rancho California Road off-ramp. Construction cost for the added lane is estimated at $5.3 million and the work is expected to take eight months to complete. The Temecula City Council meeting at City Hall, 41000 Main Street, begins at 6 p.m. May 23. See the full meeting agenda here.

2. Speaking of traffic, the city's Public/Traffic Safety Commission meets Thursday. There are several agenda items to discuss, including an idea on how to slow motorists who travel Rustic Glen Drive, between Margarita Road and Winchester Road. The commission will also consider whether to recommend "stop controls" and a safer pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Wolf Creek Drive North and Redwood Road/Alpine Place. The Public/Traffic Safety Commission meeting at City Hall, 41000 Main Street, begins at 6 p.m. May 25. See the full meeting agenda here.
