UNION CITY, CA — Police in Union City are investigating what they believe was an attempted home invasion robbery, the department said Sunday.
On Friday at 7:45 a.m., officers responded to a report of several armed suspects outside a residence. Initially police believed it could be a case of kidnapping, but the child involved was found safe inside the home and no abduction had occurred.
Based on the preliminary investigation, the crime is now believed to have been an attempted home invasion robbery, the department said.

The Union City Police Department does not believe that this case is related to an attempted kidnapping reported earlier in the week, "as the circumstances and suspect descriptions are not consistent between the two cases," they said.
