Young Night Heron Hunkers Near Pond: Photo Of The Day

ALAMEDA COUNTY — Vardhini Shankar of Union City took this amazing photo last month of a young black crowned night heron at Coyote Hills Regional Park.

According to Shankar, the park is a great location to spot birds, and this photo was taken alongside a pond where the herons roost.
