• Pedestrian Killed By Suspected DUI Driver In Bay Area: Police (patch.com) — A pedestrian was killed early Sunday in a suspected DUI crash on Sonoma Boulevard in Vallejo, and police say the driver, from American Canyon, has been arrested on manslaughter and DUI suspicions. Investigators are still piecing together what happened and are asking witnesses or anyone with information to contact Vallejo police. The victim’s identity has not yet been released. 
• Basketball Recap: Eureka Wins Going Away Against Encinal (maxpreps.com) — Vallejo gets a brief mention in Eureka’s season recap, with the Loggers having logged a 25-point margin in a road game there earlier this year. More recently, Eureka dominated Encinal 57-34 behind a string of big wins, while Encinal’s standout players still posted strong individual stats despite the loss.
• Vallejo City Council to ponder pilot project in case of shutdown (timesheraldonline.com) — Vallejo officials are weighing a pilot program to quickly support residents if federal benefits like CalFresh or housing vouchers are disrupted again, potentially using up to $3.9 million. The council will first set program rules, then decide funding amounts in January, with about 20,000 Vallejo residents potentially affected. Nonprofits like Food Is Free could receive streamlined reimbursements to meet rising demand.
