Vallejo hires new law firm to consider investigating city attorney (vallejosun.com) — Vallejo’s City Council has hired the Shaw Law Group to review ACLU allegations of misconduct in the city attorney’s office, including how police records were handled. The firm will recommend within about 30 days whether a full investigation of City Attorney Veronica Nebb and her staff should proceed, after residents and advocates pressed councilmembers for stronger accountability.

2. Is Vallejo casino project in the right time ‘slot?' (timesheraldonline.com) — Vallejo officials and residents are watching closely as the Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians moves ahead with a small Class II gaming operation in modular trailers on tribal trust land near I-80 and Highway 37, despite federal reconsideration of the larger casino project. Disputes over transparency, an MOU, and who knew what when are fueling tensions between the tribe, Vallejo city staff, and a rival tribe.

Prelim date still unsettled for man accused of Vallejo boy's 1987 killing (thereporter.com) — A long-delayed preliminary hearing is still pending for a 72-year-old man charged in the 1987 kidnapping and killing of 6-year-old Jeremy Stoner, a case that deeply affected Vallejo. Prosecutors credit renewed DNA work and a reinstated Cold Case Unit with identifying the new suspect, while local courts sort out representation issues and who will ultimately oversee the capital-eligible case.

Wilson hosts Transportation Town Hall (thereporter.com) — Vallejo riders are at the center of a new transportation push, as Assemblymember Lori Wilson’s town hall highlighted frustrations with Vallejo ferry schedules and SolTrans routes that mainly serve Vallejo and Benicia.
